Linktee Documentation

Welcome to Linktee — a modern directory theme for promoting WordPress themes and plugins with a clean layout and one-click setup.

This documentation will help you set up, manage, and publish your downloads quickly.

Getting Started

Installation

  1. Go to WordPress Admin → Appearance → Themes

  2. Click Add New → Upload Theme

  3. Upload the linktee-theme.zip

  4. Click Activate

Once activated, Linktee automatically creates the following pages:

  • Home

  • Themes

  • Plugins

  • Blog

  • Docs

  • Contact

It also sets the Home page as your front page.

Adding Themes & Plugins

Linktee uses a custom post type called Linktee Items.

Create a New Item

  1. Go to WordPress Admin → Linktee Items

  2. Click Add New

  3. Enter the item title (example: Helpisto – AI Chat Widget)

  4. Add a short description (this appears on cards)

  5. Add full details in the main content area

Required Settings (Important)

On the right sidebar, set:

Type

Choose one:

  • Theme → shows on /themes/

  • Plugin → shows on /plugins/

⚠️ If Type is not selected, the item may not appear in the correct section.

Item Details

In the Item Details box:

  • Download URL
    (ZIP file, WordPress.org link, or external download)

  • Demo URL (optional)
    Live preview or demo site

  • Price Label
    Example: Free, Pro, Free + Pro

Featured Image

  • Upload a featured image for each item

  • This image appears on the card and detail page

  • Recommended size: 1200 × 750 px

Pages Explained

Home Page

Shows:

  • Hero section

  • Quick benefits

  • Latest Themes & Plugins

You can edit text from:
Appearance → Customize → Linktee Settings

Themes Page

URL: /themes/
Displays all items with Type = Theme

Plugins Page

URL: /plugins/
Displays all items with Type = Plugin

Item Details Page

Each item has its own page like:

Includes:

  • Full description

  • Demo button

  • Download button

Navigation Menu

Menus are created automatically, but you can edit them:

  1. Go to Appearance → Menus

  2. Edit the Primary Menu

  3. Add or remove pages as needed

Footer Information

The footer includes:

  • © Linktee copyright

  • “Built with Linktee”

  • “Powered by BrandAIQ.com”

You can change footer text from:
Appearance → Customize → Linktee Settings

SEO & Best Practices

✔ Use clear, descriptive titles
✔ Keep excerpts short (1–2 sentences)
✔ Add featured images
✔ Use proper Type (Theme / Plugin)
✔ Use Demo links when possible

Common Issues

My item doesn’t show on Themes or Plugins

✔ Make sure Type is selected
✔ Publish the item (not draft)
✔ Clear cache if using a cache plugin
